Date:
Thursday, August 7, 2014 - 6:30pm
Celebrate American Artist Month with the library and Dr. Susan Frank, associate curator for research at The Phillips Collection.
Dr. Frank will present a talk entitled “From Ryder to Rothko, the Quest for the Best of American Art,” which celebrates The Phillips Collection’s current exhibition, "Made in the USA: American Masters from The Phillips Collection, 1850-1970." Featuring more than 200 works by 120+ artists, the exhibit is the most comprehensive on-site installation of the museum's American collection ever undertaken.
Come to Room 207 of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library to hear Dr. Frank's insights on Duncan Phillips, the museum's founder, and the importance of his support to American modern artists.
