The District of Columbia Public Library is hosting a grand opening celebration for their newest public library branch.

The grand opening party will include tours of the library highlighting the green technologies used in the construction. There will be activities for children and everyone will be able to see the latest approaches to public library services being implemented in this new branch library.

The Watha T. Daniel/Shaw library is the third new branch to open this year with new branches already operating in Benning and Anacostia. The Georgetown library is scheduled to open in late Fall and the Tenley library will open in early 2011.

The Watha T. Daniel Library is located directly above the Howard University/Shaw Metro on the Green Line of the Metro. Take the Rhode Island Avenue/8th Street exit.
