Take Action for Libraries - National Library Legislative Day 2013
Registration for the 2013 National Library Legislative Day (NLLD) is now open! To get started simply visit ala.org/nlld and click “Register”

This year's event will be held at the Liaison Hotel in Washington DC on May 7 and 8. You can also find preliminary information about this year’s schedule.

For 39 years, there has been an annual National Library Legislative Day in the nation's capital. Each year, over 400 library supporters travel to DC where they receive training and briefings to prepare for meetings with their members of Congress. Many continue their advocacy activities when they return back home by building on the relationships they established at NLLD.
Each state has a coordinator who arranges the meetings with legislators, communicates with the ALA Washington Office and serves as the contact person for each state delegation.
The DC coordinator is Barbara Folensbee-Moore, BRFolensbee-Moore@Venable.com. Check back here for additional information about DC delegation activities, coming soon.

If you have any questions, please contact Ted Wegner in the ALA Washington Office at twegner@alawash.org or call 800.941.8478

**UPDATE**
DCLA Member Mario Ascencio, mascencio@corcoran.org, has arranged the DC Delegation's schedule of appointments. In addition to visiting Capitol Hill, we will be visiting the Wilson Building.

If you haven't done so already, register for NLLD here.

Schedule:

Briefing Day features numerous sessions on the hot issues affecting libraries in Congress. Expect to hear from Congressional staff, legal experts, lobbyists, ALA staff and others on current issues. At 4 pm the DC delegation will meet to discuss key points we want to discuss with elected officials on May 8.

Congressional Reception, May 7, 5pm, Capitol Hill NLLD participants are encouraged to head to Capitol Hill (only a few blocks away) after Briefing Day sessions for a reception with Members of Congress and their staff.
