    Position Title:

    Outreach and Partnership Specialist at Prince George's County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS)

    Position Description:

    You are invited to serve the residents of Prince George’s County by connecting them with library programs and services through partnerships and outreach activities. You are passionate about public service, making meaningful connections, and realizing social impact through grassroots and institutional collaborations and initiatives. You are adept at assessing customer and community needs, and have the ability to engage with a range of population groups, including K-12 students, immigrants, and returning residents.

    You will:
    Support the Library’s system wide outreach and partnership initiatives in a variety of areas within the Program Services Department.

    Serve as a liaison between the library and various communities and organizations in support of the Library’s continued effort to serve the county residents and support the library’s outreach and volunteer opportunities.

    Collaborate closely with specialists within the Program Services Department, branch staff, Support Services staff, and other Communication and Outreach departments.

    Position is not a desk job. The incumbent is expected to be off-site and mobile a majority of the time and will be required to attend community meetings and events on behalf of the Library administration, as well as a variety of outreach events.

    Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three years of experience in a library, education, or non-profit setting; - or -
    Master’s degree in information science, non-profit/arts administration or related field and one to three years of experience preferred.

    Bilingual in English and a second language preferred.
    Hold a valid driver’s license.
    Considerable knowledge of principles of youth development, reading skills acquisition, childhood learning theories and philosophies and educational techniques required.
