Member Benefit: Library of Congress Federal Credit Union (LCFCU) Membership Did you know that DCLA members are eligible to join the Library of Congress Federal Credit Union? Find out more with this Q&A with LCFCU CFO and DCLA board member Karen Moses. What is the Library of Congress FCU? What are the membership benefits? The Library of Congress FCU is a not-for-profit credit union. Back in 1935, a group of employees from the Library of Congress met to create a credit union to help their coworkers and families get ahead financially. We are governed by a board of volunteers currently made up of employees and retirees from the Library of Congress. We are focused on serving America’s library community. As the credit union for the Library community, we offer lower fees and great rates on loans. Plus we offer a FREE checking account that pays dividends and an extensive surcharge-free ATM access network. We also have free webinars every month on topics like wealth management, retirement, college funding and more. Recently, we have added benefits like a scholarship program for undergraduate studies. Last year, we dedicated a Masters in Library studies scholarship to honor of the Librarian of Congress. Because we want to support all library workers and their families, we also added a Professional Development scholarship that can be used toward certifications in IT, HR, Project Management and many more areas. Those who sign up for membership will automatically receive information when the scholarships are open for applications. Who is eligible to join?
DCLA members are automatically eligible to join. Many other groups in the Library community are also eligible. There is a list here.
How does someone join?
It’s easy! See www.lcfcu.org/join to join online.
Where can you find more information on the Library of Congress FCU?
Check out our website, www.lcfcu.org or see our Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn pages.
