MLK Day of Service

Join DCLA and DCPS (DC Public School libraries) in our campaign

#My School Librarian

We are calling all librarians, information professionals, and library supporters to volunteer for a day of service to help the following D.C. school libraries:

C.W. Harris ES (from 10am-12pm)
301 53rd St. SE
Washington, DC 20019

Houston ES (from 12:30-2:30pm)
1100 50th Pl. NE
Washington, DC 20019

Volunteers can choose to work at one or both locations during the hours designated above.  If you plan to drive, free parking is available on-site at each location.  For those of you planning to use public transportation, both are accessible from the Deanwood Metro Station.  C.W. Harris does require boarding a bus from Deanwood going towards Malcolm X & MLK Avenues (see Metro Trip Planner).

Volunteers will be adding book records to these libraries' catalog, creating signage, and shelving materials at both library locations.  The libraries are small and only require a few hours of work.  If you plan on participating, please register for the event.  Also, send an email to indicating which location you will be volunteering at and what hours you can be expected.

# My School Librarian volunteer events are open to DCLA Members. You must be a DCLA member to register.  If you are not a DCLA member and are interested in joining please visit:
