Joel Shields, library portal specialist from the Washington Research Library Consortium, will discuss the conception, design, and implementation of ALADIN Mobile, which provides Android, iPhone/iPod Touch, and Palm WebOS access to the library catalog, consortium loan service, patron account information (including checked out items, holds, fines, etc.), library information including maps, hours, and phone numbers. There are eight area university libraries in the WRLC consortium and each can have its own “branding” for a customized personal experience.

The Emerging Technologies Interest Group is an effort to bring together DCLA members interested in new technologies that will shape the field of librarianship.

The Shaw Neighborhood Library is located at 1630 7th Street, NW and is adjacent to the Howard University/Shaw metro stop on the green and yellow lines. The website for the venue is http://www.dclibrary.org/watha
