Panel Members: 

 

Nicole Boynes is the Workforce Training & Development Manager at the DC Public Library.  She is also the owner of JBC Learning Systems, LLC a small Training and Consulting firm focusing on the professional development of front-line management.  Mrs. Boynes has over 10 years of Organizational Development and Human Resource experience to include positions with private, non-profit, and government organizations.  She is happily married with two beautiful daughters and resides in Bowie, Maryland.  Mrs. Boynes believes with the right tools and opportunity for development, individuals and organizations can transform and grow to their highest potential.

 

Joan Weeks is the Head of the Near East Section and Turkish Specialist in the African and Middle Eastern Division at the Library of Congress.  She was a Sr. Instruction Librarian at the Library prior to this in the Cooperative and Instructional Programs Division and managed the Library Services Training website.

Outside the Library, Joan teaches Information Literacy and Instructional Design, as an adjunct faculty member at the Catholic University School of Library and Information Science.  She has taught Information Retrieval and Data Analysis, in addition to a series of Saturday workshops on web design and library science computer applications. 

Joan holds a MA in Education, as well as a MA in International Relations with a Middle East specialization and an MLIS in Library and Information Science. In her MLIS from Catholic University, she earned a certification in Information Resource Management in the GSA 1000X2000 program to put 1000 information resource managers in the Federal workforce by the year 2000 http://www.gsa.gov/portal/content/100467 . She is a 2013 graduate of the Library’s Leadership Development 15-month program.

Joan was recently re-elected to ALA council with a 3-year term beginning in July 2015.  She also chaired the 1700 member International Relations Roundtable (IRRT) in 2008, and currently serves as the IRRT webmaster http://www.ala.org/irrt . She was President of the Iota Chapter of the Library Science Honor Society Beta Phi Mu in 2009.

 

Dr. Rondelle Price is the Manager of Library Programs for the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). In his current capacity he provides direct support to over 100 School Library Media Specialist serving 49,000 students throughout DCPS. Prior to joining DCPS, Dr. Price served as the Acting High Principal and Assistant Principal at the SEED School of Maryland. Dr. Prince began his career as a 5th Grade teacher at John E. Howard Elementary School for the Prince George’s County Public School System (PGCPS). He has spent eight years of his career working for the Anne Arundel County Public School System and Baltimore City Public School System as a Library Media Department Chair. Dr. Price holds a Bachelor’s degree from Norfolk State University, a Master’s degree from Bowie State University, a Certificate of Advance Studies in Education from Notre Dame of Maryland University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Bowie State University.
