    Archives Technician-LAC Group

    Position Description:

    LAC Group is seeking multiple Archives Technicians to support a major Federal Cultural Institution in downtown Washington, D.C. The Technicians will work under the direction of an archivist and program manager to inventory, organize, rehouse, and describe historical manuscripts and audiovisual collections. The Technicians will assist the archivist by performing data entry to create archival finding aids and will create inventory lists. Under close supervision, the Technicians will rehouse materials into archival-quality materials and create labels for boxes, folders, and other housings.

    Responsibilities:
    Inventorying, organizing, and rehousing archival materials
    Create inventory lists of materials
    Enter metadata into a spreadsheet in accordance with strict metadata format requirements to create inventory lists, finding aids, and other project data
    Other relevant duties as assigned

    Qualifications:
    Minimum of 6 months of experience in a library or archival environment
    Ability to perform a wide range of routine archival tasks under minimal supervision
    Ability to lift up to 30lbs. and move book trucks and carts weighing up to 200-300lbs.
    Ability to work in a dusty and cool environment with historical materials that may be dirty
