Library Director-The Eastern Shore of Virginia Public Library (ESVPL)
Position Description:
The Eastern Shore of Virginia Public Library (ESVPL) is currently seeking a dynamic, visionary leader with proven management skills for the position of Library Director. The ESVPL is a regional library system serving Accomack and Northampton Counties on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. A substantial building program is near completion. The new 20,837 sq. ft. facility, located in Parksley, VA, will include the Heritage Center staffed with an archivist and a community room for programs and meetings.
Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the Library Director is responsible for overseeing Library operations. ESVPL currently has a staff of 5 full-time and 10 part-time employees, a budget of $1,100,000 and a collection of over 124,000 books, e-books, audio books, periodicals and DVDs.
Application Process:
We are seeking candidates with strong leadership, communication and planning skills as well as political and business acumen. Public speaking, grant writing, and technology experience are desirable. In addition, candidates should be familiar with technological trends evolving in the
future of libraries. Candidates must appreciate the Eastern Shore’s local history and culture and be willing to collaborate with other non-profits and foster community involvement.
Qualifications:
MS in Library Science from an ALA accredited program and three years of professional library experience; administrative management and programming responsibility preferred.
