    Position Title:

    Cataloger-LAC Group

    Position Description:LAC Group is seeking an experienced Cataloger to provide high-quality PCC level subject cataloging for a project with a major federal library in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area. This is a short-term, part-time contract position starting in January 2020. Work will be done on-site in Washington, D.C., during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:30).

    Responsibilities:
    Edit PCC BIBCO-level catalog records of English language material dealing with religious and philosophical subject matter.
    Classify material using Library of Congress Classification.
    Assign subject headings using Library of Congress Subject Headings.
    Make recommendations regarding the new Library of Congress Subject Headings and/or classification numbers.

    Qualifications:
    MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution.
    3+ years of original cataloging experience in an academic or research library.
    Expert knowledge of LCSH, LCC, MARC21 and other standards used in cataloging monographic materials.
    Must have extensive experience with LCC B class (religion and philosophy) classification and related LCSH vocabulary.
    Demonstrated history of BIBCO level cataloging.
    Thorough knowledge and experience in cataloging workflows.
    Familiarity with Classification Web, Cataloger’s Desktop, and the LC Authorities list.
    Experience with Voyager ILS preferred.
    Experience with GSuite/Google Drive preferred.
    Strong communication and analytical skills.
    Excellent command of reading and writing English.
    High attention to detail.
    Ability to track work and meet deadlines.
