Library Administrative Support Specialist-LAC Group
Position Description:
LAC Group is seeking Administrative Support Specialists to support a federal library in the Bethesda, MD area. Specialists are needed to support a variety of tasks and individual responsibilities may vary slightly. This is a long term, full time (40 hour a week; Monday to Friday) benefited position.
Responsibilities:
Receives and processes approximately 50-75 requests per month from researchers/patrons for translations of scholarly materials
Prepares translation requests packages for submission to in-house or third-party translation vendors
Review returned translations packages for completeness, accuracy
Compiles monthly statistical reports
Adheres to ASTM F2575-14: Standard Guide for Quality Assurance in Translation andISO 17100: Translation Services Requirements for Translations Services
Verifies accuracy of invoices for translation vendors
May also support general library duties including interlibrary loan, check-in, circulation, ready reference, and copy cataloging
May assist with routine collection maintenance activities
Qualifications:
Associate's Degree from a recognized college or technical institute
2 years of relevant library experience
Must be able to distinguish and identify a variety of foreign languages; Multiple foreign language proficiency/fluency highly preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel
Has knowledge of library techniques, systems, and procedures
Some knowledge of sources of reference on bibliographical material
Ability to use and explain the library facilities, including catalogs and other reference aids
Ability to deal effectively with volunteers and non-professional staff in instructing them in the use of the library
Ability to present ideas effectively orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel of the institution
