Program Manager-DC Public Library
This position is within the Strategic Partnerships and Development division of the District of Columbia Public Library system and serves as a Program Manager responsible for managing events for DCPL. DCPL is seeking a highly organized, creative, detail oriented and motivated person who will serve as lead for event planning, management, and production. The incumbent must have professional work experience in managing a team to plan, organize and execute special events to allow them to assume substantial responsibilities with minimal orientation.
Under the general guidance of the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Development, the incumbent will oversee a team of event coordinators to ensure the success of events held at DC Public Library locations, primarily at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. Events may include library programs with attendance of more than 50 people; and paid event rentals including weddings and other social events, concerts, theatre performances, lectures, workshops and corporate meetings. This position would coordinate and direct the delivery of services including Catering, Security, Facilities, and A/V, and will implement the relevant policies and procedures established by library administration.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Business Administration, Public Relations, Hospitality, Communications, Hotel Management, or a related field plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in event management to include at least 2 years of experience in a management role.
