Position Title:
ZAI is seeking Research Analytics Librarians to support the bibliometrics work of a major federal research library in the Washington, D.C. metro area. The Research Analytics Librarians work with the federal staff to develop, implement and support publication analysis services centered around bibliometrics, altmetrics, and portfolio analysis.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide research assessment consultations and guidance to library customers, including advice on designing analysis and selecting metrics
- Perform research assessment analyses on a variety of datasets
- Analyze methods and approaches for citation analysis/bibliometrics and research assessment
- Provide training on bibliometric tools and techniques to library customers
- Participate in the promotion of services related to research assessment and citation analysis/bibliometrics
- Prepare reports and presentations
- Effectively communicate with federal client regarding issues, needs and/or priority setting for projects
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree library science or related field and 3-5 years of relevant experience
- 3-5 years’ experience of data analysis and visualization for bibliometrics and scientometrics applications
- Experience with tools for data preparation, such as OpenRefine, Sublime Text, R, as well as Excel, Gephi, VOSViewer, Sci2, Tableau, and other tools for data analysis and visualization
- Extensive knowledge of Excel with expertise developing pivot tables, using Excel formulas, and using VBA in Excel
- 3-5 years’ experience working with citation data, including identifying, curating, preparing, and analyzing
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- U.S. Citizenship
